Newpro remodeling firm abruptly shuts down, leaving employees and customers in limbo
Newpro, a Woburn, Massachusetts-based home remodeling company, abruptly closed its doors on Wednesday, leaving both employees and customers with many unanswered questions.”I’m frustrated, I’m stressed out, what am I supposed to do?” said Melinda Cashman.Cashman claims the home remodeling company agreed to pay thousands of dollars to contractors she hired after windows that Newpro installed started leaking.”I had all this work done – plaster, insulation, mold remediation company,” she said. “I have a bill, it needs to be paid.” A Newpro employee shared a termination email with NewsCenter 5, which stated in part, “We regret to inform you that Newpro Operating LLC, has made the very difficult decision to immediately cease business operations, resulting in the termination of your employment, effective as of today, October 29, 2025.”The company did not provide a reason for their closing in the email, only that it intends to pay all employees final wages earned through Oct. 29.The email also stated health insurance benefits would be cut off on Friday.”We want to thank you for your service as an employee, and we wish you good luck in your future endeavors,” the email concluded. The company’s website suddenly became inaccessible on Wednesday as well. The well-known company’s been a fixture here for 80 years.In 2022, it was acquired by a private equity-backed company. At Cashman’s home, she’s also worried about a dumpster she says Newpro brought in for another project. She says the dumpster company now wants her to pay for it.”She said you can pay us to take the dumpster, or we will take the dumpster and leave all the trash,” Cashman said. She’s now facing the prospect of hefty bills with no clarity on what she’ll do next.NewsCenter 5 has attempted to contact Newpro for comment.
