Vintage store Worship Collective expands

Silver Lake—Highland Park  vintage shop WorshipCollective is opening a new Silver Lake location at 4210 Santa Monica Blvd, formerly home to Spellbound Sky, which recently relocated to Palm Springs. Worship Collective is celebrating with a Grand Opening Party on Oct. 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. Daily hours 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. begin Oct. 24.

ICE raids hurt businesses

Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles—Small business owners say immigration operations have severely impacted their businesses. “It’s just, people haven’t been coming out. They’re scared. You know,” said Adrianna Reyes, owner of Sounds of Music on Whittier Boulevard. “And I mean, I don’t blame them, because the majority of our customers — all Hispanics.” CBS News

Bra business sews up 500,000 sales

Lincoln Heights—A brassiere-maker has now sold 500,000 of the undergarments, shapewear specifically designed for young and first-time bra-wearers. Lincoln Heights-based Bleuet was founded in September 2019 by Liz and Bill Rietz as a direct-to-consumer startup operating out of their dining room. It now sells online through retailers that include Amazon, Target, Nordstrom, and Walmart. L.A. Business Journal

East L.A. store crime

East Los Angeles—An automatic card-reader was swiped from a bakery counter along Whittier Boulevard over the weekend, and the business has since been defrauded of more than $18,000, according to the store owner. This is not far from an unrelated incident last week, when a nearby Metro by T-Mobile storefront was rammed by a would-be thief in a white van, trying to crash through the metal security gates. KTLA

Sunset Villa brings eclectic mix of home decor

Echo Park—Sunset Villa has opened at 1459 ½ Sunset Blvd., filling the former Look vintage space with an eclectic mix of home décor, garden fixtures, gifts, and accessories. The shop adds new life to the empty storefronts on the same block anchored by The Short Stop bar.
