Daughter Shares Divorced Dad’s Home, Viewers Obsessed With Bathroom Decor
A woman has revealed a peek behind the “shower” curtain of a divorcee’s home.
A video posted to TikTok by Audrey (@au.dreyyay) has gone viral after she filmed clips of her divorced father’s home, including some unique interior decorating choices. Since the video was posted, it has received over 54 million views and over 10 million likes.
“Divorced dad core,” Audrey captioned the video. “At least there’s a shower curtain.”
The clip revealed different parts of Audrey’s father’s house, including a shower curtain with a hippo on it, cardboard-box furniture and a half-empty fridge.
Viewers in the comments immediately recognized the particular aesthetic. “Literally, everything is super random and scattered but it’s always super clean and organized at the same time,” @harleyygray wrote.
“My dad kept his Christmas tree up until August, he wouldn’t let us take it down, it actually makes me really sad to think about it now,” @ellieburton96 wrote. “At the time we found it funny.”
“I mean, at least it’s clean,” @wiss.alux said.
Some also compared the design choices to those of divorced moms, who seem to take a slightly different approach. “Divorced mom core is in the original house he paid for, but she can’t keep up with mortgage, so she’s selling his stuff on marketplace,” @champaign wrote.
In the comments responding to his hilarious shower curtain, Audrey called her father an “interior design icon,” and noted she finds the home cozy.
“Single dads invented minimalism,” Audrey concluded.
The video reached such viral heights that she posted follow up videos revealing the more recent additions to her father’s home—including a new carboard box to put things on, a Brita water filter, several new cereals and a candle.
Later on, Audrey posted an update that her father had got a couch to replace the lawn chairs he was sitting on, along with a microwave.
As she posted updates, people in the comments began to wax more emotional, sharing their own perspectives and feelings about divorce and relationships with their fathers—or with their kids.
“This makes my heart hurt,” @madelynnrose19 wrote. “I never had a good relationship with my dad and right now, it’s no contact. I just love to see y’all having a good relationship with y’all dads. Reminds me that not all dads hurt.”
“As a divorced dad, know that he loves you and he’s trying,” @jeffgreatorex wrote. “He doesn’t have as much [money] anymore, but he is trying.”
