“January is the perfect time for homeowners to book contractors as spring and summer are peak seasons for renovations. By starting early, homeowners can avoid delays and secure the best professionals for their projects,” says Kristy Cairns, Renovation Show manager.

Meeting renovators in person builds trust and confidence, she says. Show goers can ask questions, see examples of past work and discuss their vision directly to ensure the renovator understands their goals. Face-to-face interactions also reveal qualities that are hard to assess online, such as communication style and professionalism, which are key to a successful project.

Bryan Baeumler from Home Network, a rebrand of Corus Entertainment’s HGTV Canada, will return to the Main Stage with more insight on what type of renovations will give you the best value for the money. Baumler has a huge fan base in Edmonton and homeowners can’t seem to get enough of him.

“His new show is not only exciting but also brings even more valuable renovation insights, making it highly relevant to our show audience,” Cairns says.

DIY expert Leigh-Ann Allaire from Toronto, a gal who knows her way around a can of paint and a brush, will also present on the Main Stage. She’s another crowd favourite, says Cairns, because she makes design and DIY feel achievable.

“With her down-to-earth style and expert insights, Leigh-Ann helps homeowners transform their spaces with creativity and ease,” she says.

Local home improvement skills academy, the DIY Training Centre, will offer live demonstrations of common home renovation tasks like drywall patching, tile laying, vinyl plank flooring, baseboard and casing installation and accent wall creation.

“People can follow along and get their projects up and running in no time,” says Jackie White, co-founder of DIY Training Center, located at 16690 133rd Ave. N.E.

The training centre began in Calgary, expanding to Edmonton in 2023, and offers participants the motivation and self-confidence to begin projects at home. Every class boasts high enrolment, especially women’s classes.

“Those provide a secure and cozy environment for women to engage with like-minded individuals,” White says.

Other Edmonton experts at the show include Pam and Angie, the organizational doyens behind Tidy Matters. The sisters will execute the ultimate pantry makeover in Pack a Pantry, a philanthropic feature that will help stock the shelves of the Edmonton Food Bank. Ashley Rosenow of Illustrious Interiors will assemble a palette of fellow artists for Paint with Purpose, a feature in which attendees can observe muralists paint large-format murals in real time. Each mural will be donated to Edmonton charities after the show.

Some of the home improvement trends to check out at the 2025 show include energy-efficient upgrades like solar panels and smart thermostats; multi-functional spaces that can adapt to work, entertainment and relaxation and bold, colourful design for interior features like statement backsplashes, vibrant cabinetry and unique lighting.
